The Inspiration

In 2017, Sportskred’s founder Victor, an engineer and cyclist, was competing in the UCI Amateur World Championship. His competitors were athletes he followed on social media. As well as being inspired through their skill, commitment and personality, they also influenced the equipment he used, his training schedules, even his interests beyond sport. Athletes have built up a trusted and often reciprocal relationship with their followers on social media - nearly always surpassing the social media of clubs in both size and engagement. When athletes do social media - it’s social content, when clubs do social media - it’s corporate content.

For sports properties inviting fans, ambassadors and their athletes to join their own Ambassadors Club, creates one highly valuable asset with a huge reach on social media. This provides opportunities to share content to reach new audiences, and provides a new revenue stream for sponsored content. It's a win-win-win for the sports property, their sponsors and their Ambassadors. Many clubs, federations, athletes and their agents don’t have the time. the tools or the talent at their disposal to successfully monetise their social media. So we built Sportskred - it’s the Operating System for Social Media content management, marketing and sponsorship. And, as Sportskred developed so we saw opportunities for brands and agencies running social media campaigns with influencers, ambassadors and content creators. So, the product was further developed to include the specific demands of brands and agencies. And, the most recent evolution is in teh area of advocacy. Whether employee, or customer. Stop talking about your company or brand, and encourage others to say something about you in their own words. It is incredibly powerful to get your message out, and helps with customer perception as well as recruitment.

Social media sponsorship in sports has traditionally been an afterthought for sports properties, however, it can be incredibly powerful and has an ability to reach audiences that traditional sponsored assets can never reach. What drives me is to make it simple, measurable and profitable for everyone.
